Auto-Lock SL/TP is designed to help protect an open position by requiring Stop Loss (SL) and Take Profit (TP) levels, then preventing later changes after a limited review period. In WebTrade the feature is called Auto SL/TP Protection. SL and TP are managed independently, so they can show different countdowns and lock at different times.
Set up protection before you place the order
- Open the order panel and switch on Advanced.
- Keep Auto SL/TP Protection switched on. It is on by default for Advanced orders; when an active Guard rule applies it to your account, it shows Set by Guard and cannot be switched off.
- Under Default SL/TP, choose USD or % Balance and review the SL and TP amounts. They are used only to fill in a level that is still missing five minutes after the position opens. Both must be greater than zero before the order can be sent.
- When you send the order, the Auto SL/TP Protection Confirmation dialog summarises these rules. Tick I agree to use this feature, then select Send Order.
What happens after the position opens
- First five minutes: set or review SL and TP. You can add, modify, or remove either level, on the chart or in Open Positions. A level you set starts its own five-minute adjustment countdown straight away.
- Missing levels are automatically added. After the first five minutes, the system checks for a missing SL or TP and attempts to calculate only the missing level from your Default SL/TP values.
- Each level has its own adjustment countdown. Whether you set a level or it was added automatically, you can still adjust or remove it until its five-minute countdown ends. Open Positions shows the countdown for each level, for example "SL locks in 04:12".
- The level locks. Once a level’s countdown ends, it cannot be modified, removed, or dragged on the chart for that position, not even to tighten it.
Important to know
If you set both SL and TP when the position opens, the system keeps your levels and each enters its adjustment period. If one is missing, only that level is added after the initial period and receives its own countdown. When both SL and TP are locked, WebTrade does not allow a manual full or partial close; the position remains open until SL or TP is triggered, unless another system protection action closes it.
Auto-Lock SL/TP is not a guarantee against loss. Gaps, slippage, execution timing, and market conditions can affect the outcome. Review the preset and your order details carefully before trading. Trading involves risk and losses can occur.
