What Is Auto-Lock SL/TP? A Simple Guide

Auto-Lock SL/TP helps you set Stop Loss and Take Profit levels, gives you time to review them, and then locks each level when its adjustment countdown ends.

Auto-Lock SL/TP controls in the Advanced order panel
Illustrative example. Auto-Lock SL/TP is a protection workflow; prices, execution, and final outcomes remain subject to market conditions and applicable trading rules.

Auto-Lock SL/TP is designed to help protect an open position by requiring Stop Loss (SL) and Take Profit (TP) levels, then preventing later changes after a limited review period. SL and TP are managed independently, so they can show different countdowns and lock at different times.

  • Open the order panel and expand Advanced.
  • Keep Auto-set required SL/TP enabled, then choose the SL/TP Protection Preset in USD or % Balance.
  • Review the Max SL Loss and Target TP Profit values. Both must be valid and greater than zero before an Auto-Lock order can be submitted.
  1. First five minutes: set or review SL and TP. You can add, modify, or remove either level during this initial period.
  2. Missing levels are automatically added. After the first five minutes, the system checks for a missing SL or TP and attempts to calculate only the missing level from the saved protection preset.
  3. Each unlocked level receives an adjustment countdown. You can still adjust or remove an unlocked level during its own five-minute countdown.
  4. The level locks. Once a level’s countdown ends, it cannot be modified, removed, or dragged on the chart for that position.

If you set both SL and TP when the position opens, the system keeps your levels and each enters its adjustment period. If one is missing, only that level is added after the initial period and receives its own countdown. When both SL and TP are locked, WebTrade does not allow a manual full or partial close; the position remains open until SL or TP is triggered, unless another system protection action closes it.

Auto-Lock SL/TP is not a guarantee against loss. Gaps, slippage, execution timing, and market conditions can affect the outcome. Review the preset and your order details carefully before trading. Trading involves risk and losses can occur.
